I was healthy Thursday, and had a fever of 102.4 on Friday, and by Saturday I was in ICU with a bp of 73/36 for the next 4 days. I'm 32 years old and healthy and active. I've never been sick before. When I went into the hospital it hurt so much to breath I just wanted to stop. They thought it was PE and took me to MRI and it turned out to be a serious case of Pneumonia. The doctors have no idea what brought this on or how it got to serious in a matter of 2 days. I wasn't coughing, no running nose, nothing. 7 days in the hospital and a central line to get all the medicine in me.

My 8 year old son, with Down Syndrome, started coughing at dinner (about 6 pm). The cough continued for about 2 hours. We thought that it was just phlegm in his throat, and waited for him to vomit it up (very usual for him). He was shaking and signed that he was cold, I took his temp and he was fine. One hour later, he felt very hot, so I took his temp again and it was 104.6. Needless to say, we took him to Urgent Care, an exam, and x-ray later pneumonia. Treat temperature when it occurs and on Azithromax daily. Was told that we found it soon enough that we shouldn't have to hospitalize him.

I had all the symptoms of pneumonia. Fever, headaches, cough, sore throat and chest, chills and phlegm. I went to my doctor and he said that I just had a chest infection and he put me on antibiotics. I came back 5 days later and he had a medical student there who suggested I should have a blood test and an x-ray. The results from both the x ray and the blood test turned up that afternoon saying that I had pneumonia.

I recently had a cold or so I thought when I stopped having the cold symptoms the cough stayed and is still there then I started having this back pain in my middle- upper back in one certain point it would hurt when I was getting up but it would burn when I took a deep breath. Not all the way only when I was done inhaling and I was going to let out the breath.

Very good article I learned a lot. I am mid 30's fit and healthy but have been under immense stress from work. I had flu symptoms, which wouldn't go away, then shivering and sweating in bed, worse was coughing when I was lying on my back. Went to the doc's who diagnosed with pneumonia. Last thing I thought I would have. Over a month later still not 100%. Lost weight through lack of eating and could not do any exercise because if I started breathing heavy I could not stop coughing.

When I retired for the night I started having pain in my back and chest, thinking that I had strained muscles and all would be better but by morning the pains were almost naught but temp. was 102 so went to ER where I was told it was bacterial pneumonia.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel very fatigued. I have occasional chest pain, it hard for me to breathe. I was diagnosed with COPD a few years ago when I had insurance. It is difficult to just stand to make something to eat, I get so tired. My inhalers don't seem to do anything. Lots of aches and pains. Also maybe a bladder thing going on because I feel a lot of pressure when I go to the bathroom.
