What are symptoms of low blood pressure?

Hypotension is abnormally low blood pressure. Most of us have blood pressure changes through the day, for example, blood pressure is lower when we sleep and rises when we wake.

Low blood pressure often causes no symptoms. Usually, low blood pressure is only a concern when symptoms are associated with a medical condition, such as heart disease. Low blood pressure symptoms include lightheadedness, dizziness, and fainting, which can be dangerous.

If you have low blood pressure symptoms, see your doctor because the underlying condition causing the low blood pressure will need to be treated.
