What symptoms and signs did you experience with canker sores?

I have been getting canker sores for several years. They are on the sides of my tongue and inside my cheeks. Very painful. My allergist said I was allergic to sodium lauryl sulfate in toothpaste and to purchase Spry toothpaste at the health store. It worked. She also gave me Diflucan to take and it worked quickly. She also prescribed a mouthwash - Magic mouthwash - with lidocaine and other ingredients to lessen my pain while the sores were healing. I wish I had found her years ago.

To relieve pain for a short period of time just drink soda pop and swish it around in the afflicted area. I have been dealing with canker sore outbreaks since late 14. I'm 17 now and I still get outbreaks usually when I'm stressed out. But the more positive you are, it seems the less time they last. Just recently however I had been having a seemingly minimal outbreak than out of the blue, I was socked in the mouth. My bottom lip got busted really bad and as if it wouldn't be bad enough by itself, the ulceration was also present to develop in the gash wound a day later. Now it is just one fat painful ulcer that takes up about 1/6 of my bottom lip area. So yeah I got a rough week ahead.

I'm a Pastor 62 years old and for the last 5 to 6 years canker sores have almost drove me nuts! Nothing that I've tried seemed to help me. Sometimes it was so bad that I could not even speak. One day making house calls an elderly couple on a farm told me to make a paste of alum and water and dab it on them and then rinse your mouth out with water. It was weird my mouth got a thick film everywhere I'd dabbed the mixture and it sort of peeled off as I was washing my mouth out. It took several minutes to get it out and the pain stopped right NOW! Understand it does sting some at first and you must NOT swallow it rinse it out ASAP. But it does help me! I had at least 25 when I tried this and my family doctor giving up on me, just shrugged his shoulders and shook his head.

This is my very first time to ever have a canker sore, and the pain is so bad and I can't eat at all. I have very hard time swallowing and the pain is going past my mouth. My tongue, throat, neck and my ear are hurting badly.

I had a missing tooth and my dentist removed the root to start the replacement process. My mouth is pretty small and her instruments cut the inside of my mouth and lip pretty bad. Now i have some really bad canker sores in my mouth on top of the pain from her grinding on my mouth. She gave me antibiotics for the tooth but the canker sores are killing me. One on string of tongue, one big one in corner of mouth and one on my gum beneath where she was working.

Vitamin B-12! Studies are showing that B-12 is effective against canker sores. I started taking 1000mcg/day 3 days ago and my sores are going away now. Today there is virtually no pain. It works!

I have suffered greatly with mouth ulcers for eight weeks having never suffered before. Eight weeks ago I stopped using sugar in my coffee and changed to sweeteners. I have now stopped using sweeteners and my ulcers are almost gone.

I have had cakerr sores frequently my whole life and in some of the oddest places. I get them on the tips of my tongue (highly painful) and in the back of my throat. They seem to really occur in periods of low humidity, for example, when I lived in Southern New Mexico, I had them all the time, but now that I live in a more humid climate, occurrence is less frequent.
