What treatment was effective for your bronchitis?

I've had bronchitis now for about six weeks. I had two doses of Z-pak and I just finished a round of Cipro. My coughing has gotten a lot better. My energy levels are not what they were before I got bronchitis, but I hope they will return when I get rid of this. I still don't feel like my old self yet, but hope to return to "normal" soon. I use an inhaler when I get winded, which I never did before.

After six weeks of acute bronchitis I finally went back to the doctor. I was having horrible coughing spasms that would cause me to vomit. I couldn't sleep at night and was dead tired. I had lost my appetite. I have never had such a horrible, lingering cough before in my life. The doctor gave me an inhaler with 200 micrograms of Salbutamol and it is working miracles. After just a day I noticed a difference and after 3 days it feels like my bronchitis might actually be clearing up.

I have bronchitis and it always goes to my right lung only. A few months ago I had it and now I have it again and each time it lasts longer. I'm so tired all the time and have fever off and on. At night chicken soup with ground ginger is supposed to be good for it. I tried it but I'm not sure if it helped, it did taste good though. I am on medication and a puffer. Long and hot baths have helped me with the coughing, the moist steam from the water in the bath helps.

I have been super healthy my whole life. I am turning 56 soon. 3 years ago, I went to the Philippines and my reward for it was that was sick the entire time. I was there and I caught a nasty strain of bronchitis. The air is heavily polluted in the Philippines and I'm sure I brought it back from there and that really ticks me off. I guess that's what I get for going to another country. Anyway, the first time I got it, I was miserable. Since then I've had it twice more and in fact I have it right now. This time it's really lasting too long. It's been with me for some 4 months now. Is there no end to this? My doctor thinks I have allergies but I'm sure its chronic bronchitis. I use an inhaler, mucinex, allergy meds and nose drops. I don't like the nose drops and when I started using them, my nose started running. The allergy pills seem to work pretty well as does the musinex. I don't generally have the nagging cough like you others seem to have. I do cough but it's only on occasion to clear the mucus out of my chest. Now I also have cold symptoms with a very congested head and nose. I don't know what happened to my health. Until I was 53 I was perfect health wise. I quit smoking 16 years ago and enjoyed many, many years of great health running and walking far and playing tennis for hours. Now I can't play tennis or run for more than 10 minutes without being out of breath. This stinks.

I have had bronchitis going on three weeks. The doctor prescribed me antibiotics, cough syrup, pills for coughing. After a week of taking the medications the coughing got better. It was a cough that caused me to not be able to get my breath Recipe I like to pass it on. 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of ginger, 1/2 teaspoon of clove, add all to 2 cups of boiling water. Add honey if you like. This really helped me, I actually drink a cup every night and morning. It works!

Interesting that you had heard that getting your tonsils out may help. I was told that I am more prone to these infections due to NOT having any tonsils. Apparently the tonsils are supposed to be the first line of defense so the theory goes: Having no tonsils allows the virus or bacteria easy and faster access to the respiratory tract. Who knows? But it sucks. Having never smoked in my life to hear me at the moment you would swear I was a 20+ a day! I definitely have found the moisture in the air helpful and plenty of water.

The only succesive medication for my bronchitis is adrenaline injection, however I have used franol and salbutamol but are decreasing my immuninity. Others that non-steroidal are very expensive in Kenya.
