What treatment has been effective for your anorexia?

The biggest help for me was the love and support of my family. If you do not have family that you can tell, talk to a counselor or close friend. Also, seeing the grief and pain that I was causing my parents made me realize that I was not just hurting myself. If you are battling anorexia, please don't be afraid to talk to someone about it.

I'm so scared because for the past 3 months I have extremely obsessed about my weight. I'm 24 years old 5'6 and 145lbs and I have never felt this way before. I weigh myself a lot and I'm always watching what I eat, I eat a lot less now. I'm embarrassed to tell my husband about this, I just want to be skinny so bad, what can I do, I don't want to be anorexic but I want to be skinny.

The best treatment for me was the help of people who wanted to support me and understand what I was going through. What also helped me the most was inpatient treatment in a medical facility and therapy. The help, love, and care of others is what pushed me through progressing in the recovery of my eating disorder.

Right now I'm seeing a dietician and a therapist. It's helping my body get back to a normal weight and be healthy. I'm dealing with my "eating disorder" which I still don't think I have. Right now my biggest supporter and helper has been my mom. Therapy really does help, since it gives you somebody to talk to and not worry about getting judged or if they're going to spill your secrets. It really relieves me being able to finally talk to someone.

I found that cannabis successfully treated my anorexia immediately. I find it perplexing that your website does not even mention it.

Actually, so far nothing has been effective. Then again, I haven't really told anyone except maybe a close friend, whom I've sworn to secrecy.

I never went through any specific "treatment" but I finally realized what I was doing to my body was unhealthy. When you're 95 pounds, 5 foot 8 inches, and you look in the mirror and say "I'm fat," there's clearly something wrong. Having that revelation of "Hey, I'm destroying my body and I should probably stop" was the biggest help to me. That and having a strong supportive family that wanted me to get better.

Realize you are not breaking any rule in the beginning when you eat. Trust me, I know that fear. And it may seem like it will get you attention at the time, but you should not have to go through life threatening measures to get it. Tell a friend you trust. They can assure you of the love that is there for you. *hug*
